On July 5, 2025, Villa Park Stadium in Birmingham, home of Black Sabbath, witnessed a historic moment: the final reunion performance of the legendary heavy metal band, with all of its original members: Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward. Titled “Back to the Beginning,” the show was not only a musical event but also a farewell ceremony, where an entire generation of metal fans said goodbye to the pioneers who changed the face of rock music.

Hello is also Goodbye

The event marked the first time Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward had performed together as a full line-up since 2005. With age and declining health, especially for Ozzy, who is battling Parkinson’s disease – the show was billed as the finale for the “Prince of Darkness”.

“I’m back in Birmingham to finish where I started,” Ozzy said before his first song.

Immortal Sounds

As soon as the first notes of “War Pigs” rang out, the entire stadium exploded. Black Sabbath performed songs that had accompanied them for more than 50 years:

  • “Children of the Grave”
  • “Black Sabbath”
  • “Iron Man”
  • And finally “Paranoid” – the hit that catapulted the band to legendary heights.

In the middle of the stage, Ozzy did not hesitate to sit down to rest after each song. But every time he stood up, tens of thousands of people shouted “Ozzy! Ozzy!” – a testament to the fact that he was not alone.

The End Of An Era

At the end of the show, all four members bowed as fireworks lit up the Birmingham sky. Ozzy whispered into the microphone:

“Thank you… for being there for me all this time.”

“Back to the Beginning” was more than just a concert – it was a farewell to a generation, a final chapter written in blood, sweat, and timeless melodies. Critics called it “the most emotional rock performance of the decade.” Fans whispered: “Once is enough for a lifetime.”

“I’m not sure I’ll ever be on stage again, but I know one thing for sure: Black Sabbath will live on in your hearts forever.”
